Asian suppliers strengthened their position in Sweden’s apparel market during the first half of ****, even as overall imports declined by *.* per cent year on year to $*.*** billion. China expanded its shipments and Bangladesh broadly retained its market presence, while leading European suppliers Denmark, Germany and Poland recorded double-digit declines, loosening their collective grip on the market.
According to sourcing intelligence tool TexPro, China remained the largest supplier, with shipments rising by *.* per cent to $***.*** million from $***.*** million a year earlier. Its market share consequently increased to **.** per cent from **.** per cent.
Bangladesh retained second position, although imports declined by *.* per cent to $***.*** million from $***.*** million. Its share nevertheless edged up to **.** per cent from **.** per cent because its decline was smaller than the contraction in Sweden’s total imports.
