For years, Cambodia competed on sewing capacity, labour availability and market access. In ****, the sharper question is whether a supplier can prove lower-carbon production without breaking delivery schedules or margins. That is where Cambodia has an opening. The country aims to lift renewables from over ** per cent of the power mix to ** per cent by ****, while solar deployment is already moving ahead of older power-plan targets.
Demand gives the story commercial weight. Cambodia’s garment exports reached about $**.* billion in ****, up **.* per cent year on year. In January-April ****, knitted garments and apparel accessories reached $*.** billion, woven apparel and accessories $*.** billion, and textile made-up articles $*** million. Buyers are still placing orders; the opportunity is to make those orders greener, stickier and more defensible.
